3D Networks IP Implementation
Streamlines Local Government Telecommunications in
one of Australia’s Fastest
Growing Regions
Logan City Council in Queensland is one of the first
major councils to take advantage of telephony cost
savings offered by VoIP technology. Council’s
strategy of locating Customer Service staff at its
remote operational depots was challenging its telecommunications
infrastructure. Customer service was severely impacted
as the ageing stand alone communications systems were
struggling to handle the increased voice traffic to
each of its four main depots: water provision, waste
collection and recycling, roads construction, animal
control and public health.
3D Networks stepped in with a solution that streamlined
system management,
was able to scale to handle future user growth, provided
the same advanced
telephony features and services across the board for
remote depots and central
office alike, and created substantial cost efficiencies
by routing internal voice traffic
over the existing data network rather than the public
telephony network.
